HC Deb 09 October 1945 vol 414 c47W
Mr. De la Bère

asked the Secretary of State for War whether, in view of the fact that the stand-down order, as regards the Home Guard, is still in force and no official disbandment has been announced, he proposes to effect official disbandment at the end of 1945; or whether he contemplates keeping a nucleus of the Home Guard on a stand-down basis for a longer period.

Mr. Lawson

I regret that I cannot at the moment add anything to the reply given on 21st August, 1945, to the hon. Member for Newark (Mr. S. Shephard). I will make a statement as soon as possible.
