asked the Minister of Fuel and Power whether it is proposed to co-ordinate the gas and electric industries.

Mr. Shinwell

I propose to make a statement on the future of the gas and electricity industries at an early date.

Mr. Granville

asked the Minister of Fuel and Power if he will now state his policy with regard to the extension of increased supply of electricity for the rural areas.

Mr. Shinwell

The development of electricity supplies in rural areas is part of the general problem of the development of the electricity supply industry. Any proposals that may be put forward for re-organising the industry will therefore have regard to the requirements of the rural areas.
