Mr. Braddockasked the Minister of Health if he will take steps to prevent ex-Servicemen from being evicted from their houses because they are unable to pay the exhorbitant prices asked by the landlords for them.
§ Mr. BevanThe great majority of existing lettings are within the protection of the Rent Restriction Acts and where this is so, the owner cannot obtain an order to evict the tenant except on grounds laid down in the Acts. He cannot evict the tenant upon the ground that the latter has refused to buy the house.
