§ Mr. A. HendersonPayment of war gratuities to personnel discharged prior to the commencement of the release scheme was authorised to commence on the 1st September, 1945, and the work is proceeding with all possible speed. I much regret any inconvenience which may have been caused by delay in payment. In the case of Major Forbes-Leith, payment of war gratuity will be made by the authorities in India, as the officer is resident in that country and I am communicating with them on the subject.
