§ Mr. Evelyn Walkdenasked the President of the Board of Trade whether he will present or publish a general review on a county or area basis of the avail ability or delay in supplies of particular pieces of utility furniture; and if he will give for each area forecasts of expectancy of improvements in supplies for the next six months.
§ Mr. Ellis SmithAs my right hon. Friend informed my hon. Friend the Member for Sunderland (Mr. F. Willey) on Friday last, we are continually adjusting the supply and distribution of utility furniture to take account of the needs of the public. In order to do this, we ask manufacturers to send us monthly returns covering their production, deliveries and other matters. I regret, however, that the information which my hon. Friend desires is not readily available, and the time and labour involved in obtaining it would not, in my view, be justified, in present circumstances.
