HC Deb 14 November 1945 vol 415 cc2275-6W
Mr. Bottomley

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether he will consider nationalising the mineral rights throughout the Colonial Empire and setting up fully equipped mining departments in the Colonies with the purpose of bringing mining operations under closer public control.

Mr. George Hall

The question of Government policy in regard to the development of the mineral resources of the Colonial Empire is under review, and I hope soon to be in a position to give Colonial Governments guidance on the subject.
