HC Deb 14 November 1945 vol 415 c2276W
Mr. T. Reid

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies what Colonies have not yet established industrial welfare or labour departments, or have not assigned to some department responsibility for this subject of administration.

Mr. George Hall

Apart from those territories now happily recovered from enemy occupation, in which arrangements will of course be made for proper labour inspection and administration, the only territories within the sphere of the Colonial Office in which there are as yet no specially constituted labour departments or specially appointed labour officers are Aden, Bermuda, Falkland Islands, Zanzibar, St. Helena, Seychelles and Trans-Jordan. But in all these territories the Colonial Governments have made arrangements for the supervision of labour conditions either by deputing officers of Government for the purpose or by the appointment of Labour Advisory Committees.
