HC Deb 14 November 1945 vol 415 c2271W
Sir J. Graham Kerr

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies why Jamaal Husseini, Chairman of the Palestine Arab Party, was interned in Southern Rhodesia in 1941; and when it is proposed to set him free.

Mr. George Hall

Jamaal Husseini, together with certain other Arabs, was arrested in Persia in October, 1941, by the British Military authorities after the collapse of the rebellion in Iraq. For safe custody he was transferred to Southern Rhodesia for detention under Defence Regulations. No decision has yet been taken as to his release.
