HC Deb 12 November 1945 vol 415 c1875W
Major Lloyd

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he is aware of the fact that the delay in paying claims for war damage is causing great hardship in many cases, especially to small business men; and whether he will state when the certificates for payment on assessed claims, which in many cases have been waiting for 4½ years, will be honoured.

Mr. Dalton

The date for the payment of these claims cannot yet be fixed. It will depend not only on financial considerations but on the availability of supplies.
