HC Deb 12 November 1945 vol 415 c1864W
Mr. Henderson Stewart

asked the President of the Board of Trade what steps are being taken to ascertain the timber available in Germany for shipment to this country; and what supplies, and of what qualities, he anticipates may be received here during the next six months.

Sir S. Cripps

Following the report of a technical mission which was sent to Germany, steps are being taken to organise supplies of timber for export from Germany and for this purpose it is proposed to ship softwood and hardwood logs and sawn timber and pitwood. I cannot at present give an estimate of the quantity that will be received here in the period named.
