§ Lieutenant W. Shepherdasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he is aware that the Metropolitan police are spending considerable time in apprehending motorists for petty offences; and will he take steps to ensure that the present limited force is directed towards the combating of crime.
§ Mr. EdeNo, Sir. The enforcement of road traffic laws is an important factor in promoting road safety and reducing the heavy toll of road casualties, and I have no reason to think that the amount of police time given to these duties in London is disproportionate to their importance.
