§ Colonel O. Pooleasked the Minister of Health whether he is satisfied that existing legislation safeguards those members of the Forces who wish, on demobilisation, to regain possession of houses they let on their enlistment; and, if not, what steps he proposes to take to ensure this.
§ Mr. BevanMuch as I sympathise with the object which the hon. and gallant Member has in view, I am afraid that it is not possible to insist in all such cases that the houses should be vacated, in view of the difficulty of finding alternative accommodation for the existing occupiers, who might well be put into a position of perhaps greater hardship.
