§ Sir P. Hurdasked the Minister of Health if his attention has been drawn to the success in some areas, as for instance in the Cuckfield district of Sussex, of schemes to provide block cottage flats, one in each village of any size, for the occupation of old couples, widows and single women who would otherwise have to occupy a whole cottage or live as lodgers in possibly uncongenial surroundings; and if encouragement is being given to housing authorities to do likewise where the conditions are suitable.
§ Mr. Hamilton KerrYes, Sir. A plan of cottage flats for old people is included in Housing Manual, 1944 (p. 81), which contains the Government's guidance to local authorities as to the lines on which they should frame their housing schemes.
