HC Deb 12 June 1945 vol 411 cc1507-8W
Mr. Parker

asked the Secretary of State for War what percentage of commanding officers have sent in for the forms to be signed by the troops asking for ballot papers.

Sir J. Grigg

I am unable to state the exact percentage at the moment. As I indicated in answer to a supplementary question by the hon, and learned Member for North Hammersmith (Mr.Pritt) on 5th June some commanding officers in this country were rather slow off the mark in demanding the forms to start with, but the very heavy and urgent demands received and complied with during the last part of May and the beginning of this month indicate that the great majority of units, if not all, in this country have by now complied with their instructions. It is still not too late, as the completed forms can be received by Registration Officers up till four days before nomination day.
