HC Deb 21 February 1945 vol 408 cc811-2W
Sir E. Graham-Little

asked the Minister of Food whether he is aware that the Scientific Advisory Committee, under the Chairmanship of the President of the Royal Society, appointed by his predecessor in June, 1940, has not met for more than two years; that the list of committees recently named by the Minister as now advising him consists almost exclusively of trade committees; and will he reinstate that Committee and seek its advice in the planning of a national loaf.

Colonel Llewellin

The list of committees to which my hon. Friend refers was limited to bodies appointed by my Department. The Scientific Advisory Committee was, however, not appointed by my predecessor, but by the Lord President of the Council. The last part of my hon. Friend's Question does not therefore arise.
