HC Deb 14 February 1945 vol 408 cc246-7W
Commander Galbraith

asked the First Lord of the Admiralty what daily and weekly newspapers, including illustrated papers, are supplied to His Majesty's ships at Admiralty expense.

Mr. Alexander

I would refer the hon. and gallant Member to the reply I gave to the hon. Member for Lambeth, North (Mr. G. Strauss) on 24th January. A number of periodicals are also supplied at public expense through the Services Central Book Depot, a list of which I will publish in the OFFICIAL REPORT. There is no supply of daily papers to His Majesty's Ships and it would not be practicable to arrange for such a supply.

Following is the list:

  • "Everybody's."
  • "World Digest."
  • "Lilliput."
  • "Wide World."
  • "Men Only."
  • "Times" Broadsheets.
  • "Time and Tide."
  • "Amateur Photographer."
  • "Autocar."
  • "Motor Cycle."
  • "Popular Gardening."
  • "Practical Wireless and Television."
  • "Reader's Digest."
  • "The New Statesmen and Nation."
  • "The Spectator."
  • "Cycling."
