HC Deb 20 December 1945 vol 417 c1646W
Mr. Haydn Davies

asked the Minister of Health whether there has been any alteration in the composition of the Reading Committee on London Government; how many times has it met; and what: are its terms of reference.

Mr. Bevan

The only alteration in the composition of the Committee has been the appointment of Mr. L. A. Freeman in succession to my hon. Friend the Member for Wellingborough (Mr. Lindgren), who resigned on taking office. I understand that to date the Committee have met on seven occasions. The terms of reference are:

" To examine and review the number, size and boundaries of the Metropolitan Boroughs and the distribution of functions between the London County Council on the one hand and the Common Council of the City of London and the Metropolitan Borough Councils on the other hand, and to make recommendations."
