§ Mr. Stokesasked the Minister of War Transport how soon shipping space will be available for transfer to the Continent of the 20,000 vehicles acquired by U.N.R.R.A. in the United Kingdom and urgently required for relief work.
§ Mr. BarnesThe U.N.R.R.A. programme from the U.K. for Europe is approximately 25,000 vehicles. Of this total some 8,000 vehicles will have been shipped to Poland and Czechoslovakia by the end of this year. The ships which carry these vehicles have to be specially fitted, and are not in easy supply. Provision has, however, been made for lifting in January the maximum number of vehicles which can be handled in Polish ports, and the programme for Czechoslovakia I being executed up to the quantities asked for by U.N.R.R.A. The balance of the Polish programme will, barring unforeseen circumstances, be completed by the end of March; that for Czechoslovakia will take rather longer at the present rate agreed with U.N.R.R.A.
