HC Deb 17 December 1945 vol 417 c1072W
Mr. Gammans

asked the Secretary of State for War if he is aware that the numbers of movement personnel employed at Calais, Ostend, the Hook of Holland and Cuxhaven, are in excess of those required to carry out their duties; and if he will cause an investigation to be made with a view to the reduction of numbers.

Mr. Lawson

I am not aware that the present numbers are excessive. The establishments at these ports are constantly under review and they are amended as the load changes. Reductions have recently been made, and will continue to be made as and when possible.
