Dr. Jegerasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies what are his Department's plans for controlling the activities and profits of the large tin and rubber companies now returning to Malaya.
§ Mr. George HallSo far as profits are concerned, my general purpose will be to ensure that each section of the community makes its equitable contribution to the public revenues, and in the case of large companies I look to Income Tax, which did not exist in Malaya before the war but was introduced during it, as the principal instrument for the purpose. The general question is still being considered.
