HC Deb 12 December 1945 vol 417 c581W
Commander Noble

asked the Minister of Works whether he has now any information to give as to the future of eight houses in Chelsea, of the addresses of which he has previously been informed, which are still being prepared for use as Government offices, with the result that valuable housing accommodation and labour are being wasted.

Mr. Tomlinson

It has been decided in agreement with the Ministry of Health that the 10 houses to which I believe the hon. and gallant Member refers, shall toe prepared for use as offices. As indicated in my reply to the hon. and gallant Member on 20th November, the use of these houses will enable flats, now occupied as offices, to be released. The work of preparation, which is well advanced, is substantially less than that required to convert the houses so that each could be used to accommodate more than one family.
