HC Deb 12 December 1945 vol 417 cc580-1W
Sir W. Darling

asked the Minister of Supply and of Aircraft Production what, in the production of prefabricated alu- minium houses, is the average hourly rate of wages, including all bonuses, paid to the workmen employed on the production of parts in the factories; and the maxi mum hourly rate of wages, including all bonuses.

Mr. Woodburn

Precise details are not available of the average or maximum hourly rates of wages paid to the many types of workpeople whose labour con tributes to the building of aluminium houses, but it is a condition in all con tracts placed by the Ministry of Supply and Aircraft Production that the fair wages resolution of this House shall be observed by the contractor. The appropriate rates of wages are, of course, a matter for settlement by the employers and trade unions concerned by means of the normal machinery of negotiation.
