Mr. Sorensen

asked the Minister of Town and Country Planning whether information has been collected respecting the respective advantages and disadvantages of the planting of trees in town and city streets; and whether any advice respecting this matter has been given to local authorities.

Mr. Silkin

I intend to encourage local authorities to plant trees in town and city streets wherever it is feasible and suitable to do so, and shall give general advice to them in the matter so soon as my Department have completed the consideration which is at present being given to certain technical and administrative questions involved.
