HC Deb 11 December 1945 vol 417 c339W
Mr. Piratin

asked the Secretary of State for War the release group numbers below which no person will be posted for service in West Africa.

Mr. Lawson

Men are not now placed under orders for West Africa unless they are in release groups 36 or later, apart from special cases, such as key men and specialists. This rule applies to all overseas commands except B.A.O.R. and C.M.F. to which postings are made from Group 30 or later. Those in earlier groups who were already under orders by 1st December must proceed, under the rules previously in force. The groups liable for overseas service are varied from time to time as the Release Scheme progresses.
