§ Mr. Rhys Daviesasked the Minister of Health whether he is aware that Miss Agnes Winifred Cowe, now at 24, Kiln Hill, Tweedmouth, entered the service of the Lancashire Mental Hospitals Board in August, 1935, was placed on the permanent staff of that body in December, 1935, and resigned her post voluntarily to attend her ailing mother in February, 1945;that if she had completed 10 years' service with that Board she would have been entitled to the return of her own contributions to the superannuation fund amounting to £42, but that as she resigned voluntarily a few months short of 10 years, she is deprived of that sum; and if he will take steps to redress this grievance.
§ Mr. BevanMy attention has been drawn to this case. I have no jurisdiction in regard to the return of contributions to an established officer or servant of a local authority who is superannuable under the Asylums Officers' Superannuation Act, 1909, which applies to the Lancashire Mental Hospitals Board. Under Section 10 of that Act no contributions are returnable in cases of voluntary resignation, whether or not the employee has completed 10years' service.
