§ Major H. Fraserasked the Minister of Fuel and Power whether he will give an assurance that when confirming appointments, such as fuel overseers, made by local authorities, his department will ensure that fair consideration has been given to ex-Service applicants.
§ Mr. ShinwellThe appointment of local fuel overseers rests with the local authority concerned, and they are not subject to formal confirmation by me. I have no doubt that local authorities have due regard to the claims of ex-Service applicants when new appointments are under consideration.
