HC Deb 23 August 1945 vol 413 c856W
Wing-Commander R. Robinson

asked the Secretary of State for War for what reasons his Department recently found it necessary to send back to India Captain Stanley Longworth Hill, No. P/140828, who had been returned to this country on compassionate leave; whether he is aware that this officer was in release group 22 and would shortly have to return to this country in any event; and whether he will take steps to prevent similar waste of transport and man-power in this way in the future.

Mr. Bellenger

This officer was sent from India on 28 days' ordinary leave. Although he applied for reversion to the Home Establishment while in this country the application was not approved and he returned to his unit in the usual way. At the time there appeared to be no prospect of his early release under the Release Scheme, and no justification for his retention on that ground.
