§ Mr. ButlerIn assessing the grant regard is had to the means of the applicant. He is also asked what contribution his parents or others are prepared to make, but their refusal to contribute does not affect the grant to the applicant. The private means of an applicant's wife or children are taken into account only for the purpose of deciding whether any addition should be made, in aid of their maintenance, to the grants payable to the applicant.
