Captain Shaw

asked the Minister of Information if he is aware that on 27th March the B.B.C., on the Scottish News, made an announcement about what was described as a new discovery by the I.C.I. for killing weeds in grain; and why the product of this combination was given this gratuitous advertisement.

The Ministry of Information is not responsible for the content of B.B.C. Home News Bulletins. But on inquiring of the B.B.C. I find that the hon. and gallant Member has been misinformed. The news item to which he refers made no mention of the I.C.I.
