§ Mr. Hewlettasked the Secretary of State for India if he can make any statement as to the supply of mail, cigarettes, cheap arid adequate canteen food, beer and books and magazines to the Fourteenth Army.
§ Mr. AmeryI should prefer to postpone a statement on these matters until my Noble Friend the Under Secretary of State for India has completed his inquiries. To make a statement on particular aspects of the matters he is at present investigating would be inappropriate and might possibly be misleading.
