§ Mr. Ethertonasked the President of the Board of Trade why, having regard to the difficulty the public experience in getting footwear repaired, he has made it illegal, under S.R. & 0., No. 1060, to repair footwear without a licence.
§ Mr. DaltonUnder this Order a licence is required only if the repairer repairs more than 15 pairs a week or was not carrying on the business between 1st June and 31st August, 1944. Materials for footwear repairs are very scarce and the postwar interests of repairers who have joined the Forces or who have been directed away to war work must be protected.
