asked the Minister of Fuel and Power whether he can now name the members of the Fuel and Power Advisory Council.

Yes, Sir. I have already informed the House of my intention to set up this Council and that I had secured the services of Sir Ernest Simon as Chairman. I have now appointed the Council as follows:

  • Sir Ernest Simon, M.Inst.C.E., M.I.Mech.E. (Chairman).
  • Mr. Geoffrey Crowther.
  • Sir John Greenly, K.C.M.G., C.B.E., M.I.Mech.E., M.I.E.I.
  • Dr. E. S. Grumell, C.B.E.
  • Sir Harold Hartley, K.C.V.O., C.B.E., M.C., F.R.S.
  • Professor C. N. Hinshelwood, F.R.S.
  • Professor John Jewkes, C.B.E.
  • Viscount Ridley, C.B.E.
  • Sir Robert Robinson, F.R.S., D.Sc.
  • Mr. Geoffrey Summers, C.B.E.
  • Secretary—Mr. R. N. Quirk.

The terms of Reference are as follows: To consider and advise upon questions, referred from time to time by the Minister to the Council, concerning the development and utilisation of the fuel and power resources of the country in the national interest.
