HC Deb 03 November 1944 vol 404 c1102W
Colonel Carver

asked the Minister of Agriculture the approximate annual value of the agricultural and horticultural output of Great Britain; the number of persons employed in these industries; and how these figures compare with the immediate pre-war period.

Mr. Hudson

The value of the agricultural and horticultural output of Great Britain is estimated at£265,000,000 in 1938–39 and provisionally at£502,000,000 in 1943–44. I regret that I am not at present in a position to give the statistics of labour, but the question of publishing this information is receiving consideration.
