HC Deb 21 June 1944 vol 401 c210W
Mr. Stokes

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what were the proposals for peace received by His Majesty's Government, either directly or indirectly, from the German Government on or about 17th December, 1943.

Mr. Eden

At about the time mentioned by the hon. Member, information reached His Majesty's Government regarding certain views alleged to have been expressed by a Nazi official in regard to possible terms of peace. As this information bore all the familiar marks of a typical German manœuvre designed to sow distrust between the United Nations, His Majesty's Government ignored it.
