HC Deb 13 July 1944 vol 401 c1896W
Win-Commander Hulbert

asked the Prime Minister if he is now in a position to make a statement governing the regulations for the award of the 1939–43 Star.

Mr. Attlee

My right hon. Friend the Prime Minister is constantly considering what advice he should tender to the King on this matter, and he hopes to make a statement before the end of the Session.

Mr. Kirby

asked the First Lord of the Admiralty why it is that personnel of the Royal Navy, who have been discharged as medically unfit and have the requisite war service to qualify, are not informed of their right to the ribbon of the 1939–43 Star.

Mr. J. P. L. Thomas

Personnel who have been discharged from the Navy will be invited to apply for the ribbon of the 1939–43 Star as soon as the qualifications for the award are finally settled. Meanwhile, my right hon. Friend is prepared to deal specially with individual cases, where, for example, the person discharged is wearing the uniform of another Service.
