HC Deb 21 December 1944 vol 406 c1974W
Mr. Salt

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer Whether he expects to receive before Parliament reassembles the report of the University Grants Committee as to the increased post-war requirements of the universities; and whether, in view of the wide interest in this matter and its importance in connection with the expansion of scientific research and development in this country, he will be prepared to make public the nature of the recommendations and the Government's proposed action thereon.

Sir J. Anderson

I expect to receive the Report of the University Grants Committee early in January. As soon as the Government have reached conclusions on the Report, I shall make a statement on the matter.
