HC Deb 21 December 1944 vol 406 c1984W
Mr. G. White

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether in answering the question put on 26th October, as to the number of children's homes or institutions under his control, he included all homes and institutions which made returns to him under Section 92 of the Children and Young Persons Act, 1933.

Mr. H. Morrison

My hon. Friend is quite right and I am grateful to him for having called attention to the point. By an oversight which I regret I included all the homes which send prescribed particulars to the Home Office each year. The number of homes or institutions subject to inspection by officers of my Department is 632 and the number of boys and girls living in them is about 26,000.
