HC Deb 21 December 1944 vol 406 cc1969-70W
Mrs. Cazalet Keir

asked the Minister of Health whether he is yet in a position, as the result of his consultation with the Minister of Fuel and Power, to supply oil stoves and fuel for those people living in bomb-damaged houses.

Major Lloyd George

I have been asked to reply. As regards fuel for oil stoves, I have arranged for persons living in bomb-damaged houses, who may not already qualify for priority under the scheme inaugurated last year by my Ministry to ensure priority of supplies to people solely dependent upon paraffin oil for cooking, lighting or heating, to receive similar priority, when this is considered necessary by the local authority. The provision of oil stoves is a matter for my right hon. Friend the Minister of Works but I understand that he has arranged for priority of supply to be given to persons who produce priority record cards issued under the above-mentioned scheme and to endeavour to augment the supplies of stoves available for purchase in the areas principally affected.
