HC Deb 22 September 1943 vol 392 c244W
Captain P. Macdonald

asked the Postmaster-General whether he is aware that air-mail letters from India are now taking three months in transit; and whether he will take steps to improve this arrangement?

Captain Crookshank

I am aware that air mail letters from India which are sent partly by air and partly by sea {as distinct from light-weight air letters, which are sent entirely by air), have been subject to delays, for reasons over which the Post Office has no control, but the altered position in the Mediterranean should shortly lead to a substantial improvement in transit time.
