HC Deb 21 September 1943 vol 392 c50W
Mr. Kirby

asked the President of the Board of Trade what steps he has taken to ensure that adequate supplies of utility furniture are available for newly-married couples; and whether he has any statement to make as to the cases of delay in meeting the furnishing needs of such couples?

Mr. Dalton

I would refer my hon. Friend to the reply I gave on the 20th July to my hon. Friend the Member for Central. Hull (Mr. Windsor). I have recently designated 21 more manufacturers of utility furniture and I am doing everything possible, within the strict limits of the labour and materials available, to increase the supplies and thus to reduce delays in delivery.
