HC Deb 21 September 1943 vol 392 c53W
Sir R. Gower

asked the President of the Board of Trade why the maximum price of 10s. has been fixed for home-made toys; and whether, in taking this step, he has considered the discouraging effect of such a decision on disabled and elderly men who make large-scale toys for sale?

Mr. Dalton

My object in fixing.a maximum price of 10s. for toys sold by manufacturers was to secure that, with the limited labour and materials available, as many toys as possible should be produced at prices within the reach of all. I have no reason to think that those who make toys at home will find any great difficulty in adapting themselves to this regulation.
