HC Deb 21 September 1943 vol 392 c52W
Mr. Hannah

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether he can give the House any information as to what help his Department is preparing to give British firms in getting a fair share of South American trade after hostilities have ceased?

Mr. Dalton

As I informed the House on 27th July in the Debate on Overseas Trade, His Majesty's Government look forward, after the war, to share with other countries in an expanding trade with South America. His Majesty's Government will give United Kingdom exporters all the help they can to develop their trade with these markets; but much will depend on the initiative of exporters themselves and on the efficiency of their marketing arrangements.
