HC Deb 21 September 1943 vol 392 cc67-8W
Major York

asked the Secretary of State for Air whether he will review his decision to recall Aircraftman Swann, to the Royal Air Force, in view of the dislocation which will be caused in the area concerned and the harm that will be done to food production if his Department maintains its insistence in this case?

Sir A. Sinclair

Aircraftman Swann, who is a fully trained flight mechanic, has been granted periods of release totalling some 15 months since completing his training in January, 1942. He is due to resume his Service duties in the immediate future, and much as I sympathise with the representations which have been made in favour of a further release for this young man I regret that this course would not be warranted in view of urgent Service requirements.
