§ Mr. Prittasked the Secretary of State for War whether he is aware that in a recent issue of the "War Office Weekly Review of Intelligence," designed to be read by all officers, the Soviet demand for the opening of a second front is described as more persistent in its boring monotony than any previous one; and whether he will put a stop to the use in official publications of language calculated to excite resentment or hostility against the Soviet Union?
§ Sir J. GriggThis mistake was due to careless editing and not design. I have taken steps which I hope will prevent a repetition. The opinion expressed no more represents the official view of the War Office than it does of the Foreign Office. I would remind the hon. and learned Member that the document was marked "Secret" and that its contents could only have reached the public by an unauthorised disclosure of which I take a serious view.
