HC Deb 14 October 1943 vol 392 c1066W
Sir P. Hannon

asked the Home Secretary whether he will take into consideration the desirability of an increase in the number of women police in the Metropolitan Police area in view of objectionable conduct which occurs in parks and other public places, and with the prevention of which policewomen are specially competent to deal?

Mr. H. Morrison

I am in entire agreement with my hon. Friend as to the desirability of making full use of the services of women police in the Metropolitan Police District for the special purposes to which he refers, but the limiting factor in the present man-power situation is of course the scarcity of women with the right qualifications. So far as existing resources permit, special attention is being given to parks and other open places.
