HC Deb 14 October 1943 vol 392 cc1087-8W
Captain Plugge

asked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury whether it is proposed to revive, as regards the Departments concerned, the pre-war practice of holding comprehensive selection boards to appraise the relative merits of all members of the S Class of civil servants, with a view to the selection of the best of them for promotion?

Mr. Assheton

Following the recommendation recently made by the Civil Service Arbitration Tribunal, that the pre-war practice of holding comprehensive selection boards to appraise the relative merits for promotion of all members of the S Class might be revived, all Departments have been asked to reconsider this question.
