HC Deb 14 October 1943 vol 392 c1075W
Mr. Riley

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether the proposal of the Labour Commissioner in Nyasaland for the establishment of a legal minimum wage for workers on the tobacco plantations has been accepted by the Nyasaland Government; and what are the wages now being paid to tobacco workers on the plantations in Nyasaland?

Mr. Emrys-Evans

My right hon. and gallant Friend has no recent information on these points: and the Governor is being asked for a report. A communication will be sent to the hon. Member when this has been received.
