§ Captain Gammansasked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Works whether he is prepared to discontinue the practice of burning dead leaves in the royal parks and use the leaves for compost?
§ Mr. HicksLeaves such as oak, beech, etc., make excellent compost and are used by the Ministry. The surplus is offered to allotment holders in the Parks or nearby. Plane tree leaves and some others are unsuitable for compost but are burned and the ashes used as fertiliser.
