HC Deb 13 October 1943 vol 392 c896W
Mr. W. Brown

asked the Minister of Supply whether he will institute an inquiry, at which staff associations will be invited to give evidence, into the sale of fruit and vegetables at a certain establishment, to establish responsibility for the prices and disposal of the produce, the expenditure of public funds and for approving explanations of his officials that the prices of the luxury produce have not been fixed nor any sold this year and that there is a roster system, whereby all members of the staff can purchase the produce; and to set up machinery to dispose of this produce lawfully and equitably in collaboration with the staff side of the departmental Whitley Council?

Sir A. Duncan

No, Sir. It was a term of the occupational agreement for this property that the gardens should be maintained in good condition. Formal arrangements have been made for the upkeep of the gardens and for the disposal of the produce either to the local hospitals or on an equitable basis at reasonable prices.
