§ Mr. Emrys-EvansMy right hon. and gallant Friend is well aware of the dangers904W of soil erosion in Kenya, and in particular of the risks attendant on maize cultivation. Fresh legislation on the subject has been passed this year and there is a special section of the Department of Agriculture which is concerned solely with soil conservation measures. Proposals for strengthening and extending this service with the assistance of a grant from the Colonial Development and Welfare Vote are now under consideration.
